Natural Medical And Healing Systems > Reflexology

The healing art of reflexology is now very popular in New Zealand and many other countries. Known to mankind for many thousands of years and widely practiced by the Indian, Chinese and Egyptian peoples.

Reflexology is a well recognised and precisely defined form of treatment based on the principle that the anatomy of the body is reflected in miniature on reflex zones on the feet. By using specific techniques of holds and pressures on these regions, healing is both initiated and accelerated in the corresponding area of the body.

During a typical treatment, the reflexologist will often begin by giving the client a warm foot bath, often with a lovely fragrant essential oil. For ease of relaxation, the client will usually sit or lay down while the therapist uses hands and fingers to apply gentle pressure to the feet. Sensitive trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace.

Most people can benefit from reflexology treatment as it helps to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium encouraging healing.

Reflexology will help with many conditions including:
Stress
Digestive disorders
Arthritis
P.M.S.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Reflexology is often included as a part of Massage Therapy. More details...

Related practices are Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Massage
